TROCAR SWEEP MOVES OPERATIONS TO GERMANTOWN, TN

germantown-tnTrocar Sweep, LLC a start-up laparoscopic medical device company previously based in Dallas, TX has moved company operations to the Entrepreneurship Innovation Center (EPIcenter) Germantown, TN

Germantown, TN, January 25, 2016 – The patented Trocar Sweep is a laparoscopic surgical device that was first registered with the FDA as an exempt 501(k) product in 2014. Shortly thereafter the company launched the 5mm instrument size that validated the products performance and perfected the company business model by acquiring key hospital and surgeon customers. 2016 plans are to expand the product line to include the 10mm and 8.5mm (robotic) instruments, close the last round of funding to fuel rapid growth and expand our business to international markets.

The Memphis area ecosystem for creating and growing medical device companies is strong and robust. Innova, ZeroTo510 device accelerator, Memphis Bioworks, EPIcenter along with a large population of industry veterans makes Memphis an obvious choice to start and grow our company”, said Trocar Sweep CEO David R. Leon.

ABOUT Trocar Sweep, LLC: A medical device company focused on the development of proprietary general surgery devices with broad application for large market opportunities. The first product Trocar Sweep is a 510(k) exempt laparoscopic surgical instrument used to remove fluid from laparoscopic trocars to prevent scope smudging and improve visualization. Currently available in the 5mm size the company is expanding the product line to include the 8.5mm (robotic) and 10mm which will be available in June 2016.

ABOUT The EPIcenter: A collaborative and community-wide strategic initiative that is helping entrepreneurs conceive, launch and scale businesses in the Memphis region. EPIcenter serves as a central point of contact for the region’s ecosystem and coordinates resources from various organizations in the community. EPIcenter also represents the complete picture of the region’s entrepreneurial activity and resources in high-growth, scalable startups and businesses. The goal of EPIcenter is to create 500 companies and 1,000 entrepreneurs by 2024.
